(118) Jethro: kay
(114) Delro: All right, Dirk, Dagger, we last left you guys on...
(114) Delro: So, what's up?
(119) Culix: Not much. Though I now kinda wish we could play another Space Opera game sometime soonish.
(118) Jethro: s'all good
(114) Delro: Man, this valley of distorted gravity is crazyflakes.
** (119) Culix hums the Star Wars theme into the silence. **
(114) Delro: Are you playing in this game, Culix? Or is your character name Culix?
(119) Culix: I'm just watching for this game. Starfe only got my character sheet a few minutes ago and I don't expect to be included in this session.
(114) Delro: Starfe JUST got both of our sheets, too. You could probably play if you wanted to.
(119) Culix: Ah. I wasn't aware of that. Maybe I will play in this session, then.
(110) GM Starfe: Back
(110) GM Starfe: Sorry, took longer than anticipated
(118) Jethro: s'alright
(119) Talon: Not a problem.
(114) Delro: No problem at all.
(118) Jethro: Bnah! Even after all this time, Culix still insists on stealing my default text color!
(119) Talon: ^_^o Sorry. I think it went back to the default when I went to the newer computer.
(118) Jethro: Allright then
(118) Jethro: .....
(118) Jethro: er
(119) Talon: Eh?
(118) Jethro: We doin somethin?
(110) GM Starfe: Sorry sorry was upstairs fetching water
(118) Jethro: ahh
** (114) Delro nods. **
(119) Talon: I see.
(110) GM Starfe: ALRIGHT
(118) Jethro: okay
(110) GM Starfe: From this point on you are in character
(110) GM Starfe: ((And yes, Culix you can play))
(110) GM Starfe: A long time ago in a galaxy far far away....
(110) GM Starfe: CHAPTER 1 - THE OUTER RIM
(110) GM Starfe: It is a period of relative peace in the galaxy, the GALACTIC REPUBLIC rules over the majority of systems in a fair amount of favor, the Jedi knights keep the peace within the republics territories and settle disputes whenever nessecary, in place of an army of the republic, something many systems are greatly opposed to. However the republic does not reach to the outer rim systems. In the outer rim there are no Jedi, there is no republic, but there is still the force....

(110) GM Starfe: Anyway
(110) GM Starfe: Jethro, you awake late this morning, the light pours in over the trees in your village and into your dwelling. You are on the planet of Tetran, located in the Wild Space region of the galaxy
** (118) Jethro stretches **
** (118) Jethro stands up and rumags through his clothes for some **
(118) Jethro: "Mmmmmm...."
(119) Talon: ((Gack... brb))
** (118) Jethro slaps on a pair of shorts and a tank-top like shirt **
(110) GM Starfe: ((For the time being Ill be conversing with you guys in the open, we'll switch to whispers when nessecary))
(110) GM Starfe: Its a fairly nice day on your temperatley climated planet
** (118) Jethro heads out, trying to recall what his schedule was today **
(118) Jethro: "I think I had some plowshare today..."
(119) Talon: ((back))
(118) Jethro: "I could always play cards with B5-D6 later... for the thousandth time..."
(130) Delro (enter): 21:48
(118) Jethro: "Mrmm"
** (118) Jethro heads about the regular routine of his day **
(110) GM Starfe: Delro, you are in your Correlian class space transport, currently shooting through hyper space having recently left Naboo after a matinence stop. You are headed towards the Wild Space region of the galaxy for no particular reason.
(110) GM Starfe: Booting '(128) Delro' from room...
(128) Delro (exit): 21:49
** (130) Delro begins sifting through stars, looking for one of the civilized planets on the outer rim. **
(130) Delro: "Wild territory.... that's what they call this place."
** (130) Delro sits in relative silence, the only sound to comfort him on this journey being the constant hum of machinery. **
(110) GM Starfe: You have several choices if you drop out of hyperspace soon, Tatooine, Geonosis, and Tetran are nearby
(130) Delro: "Where am I going, cosmic wind..." Delro says, prepping the ship for the drop.
(110) GM Starfe: Jethro as you leave your dwelling one of the farmers says, "Up a little late eh Jethro?"
** (118) Jethro looks up **
(118) Jethro: "Uh, yeah. I've been kinda tired lately."
** (118) Jethro scratches his head, knowing his experiments during the last few nights have been exhausting him, rather then farm work **
(118) Jethro: "So, how's the... farming going?"
** (130) Delro looks from scanner to scanner, before selecting Tetran as his next arrival point. **
(130) Delro: "The feeling... something interesting will be there..."
(110) GM Starfe: "Well things are going well as far as planting for the season is concened... But we're a little lacking in rain, and B5-D6 doesnt think we can get enough water through irrigation. So crops might be a bit short this year."
** (118) Jethro nods, a bit concernedly **
(110) GM Starfe: Talon, you are awoken in your transports quarters, a member of the crew has knocked on your door.
(110) GM Starfe: "Excuse me Emissary Velt. We will be coming out of hyperspace and landing on Tetran soon.
(118) Jethro: "Nothing we can really do unless the weather decides to change things up I suppose... or a trade ship happened along with a few moisture vaporators..."
** (119) Talon stretches, yawns and pulls on his official uniform. Sleepily, he says, "Hmm? Ah. Thank you for informing me. I'll be out shortly." **
(110) GM Starfe (whispering): You have been assigned the mission of contacting the Hutt representatives on Tetran to discuss joining the republic, you doubt you will have any luck.
whispering to GM Starfe, Talon rechecks his briefing, to remind himself of any important details he might have forgotten.
(118) Jethro: "...And was willing to part with them for half what they're worth..."
(110) GM Starfe: Farmer: "Suppose so. Myself and some of the other have gathered some credits and bartering goods to buy some vaporators, but none of us have made it out to the port to check if theres anyone selling any."
** (118) Jethro thinks for a moment. "Well, I could go check for you... ah right, but I have plow shares today..." **
(110) GM Starfe: Delro, there is a small space port town on Tetran, as you pierce the atmosphere and approach the port you get a message over your ships communicators. "Tetran port requesting ship identification"
(110) GM Starfe: "Well... If you talked to Raspin he might let you off today."
(130) Delro: Delro responds, "This is the Starswept, (insert class) transport ship, (insert identification codes)."
** (118) Jethro nods **
(118) Jethro: "All right, I think I'll do that." And mutters to himself "And break the monotony for a day.."
** (118) Jethro heads of the plead his case with Raspin **
(110) GM Starfe (whispering): Your briefing states that you are to meet with the Hutt representatives who have recently arrived in Tetran to discuss terms of the Hutts not taking Tetran like they have Tatooine. The Republic does not wish to have the gang controlling any more planets.
** (119) Talon finishes looking over his briefing and sighs. 'Looks like I'm not going to have much success with this trip... They'll probably send me to another backwoods world if I come back empty-handed, too..." Dismal, but appearing cheerful, he heads to the bridge. **
(130) Delro: "To Tetran port, there are no passengers on this ship."
(110) GM Starfe: *Kssssh* "Starswept Correlian YT-1300 transport cleared to land at docking bay 4"
(130) Delro: "Thank you, Starswept proceeding with landing sequence." *kssh*
** (130) Delro preps for docking at docking bay 4! **
** (118) Jethro maybe hopefully convinces Raspin to let him head out and try to barter for some vaporators **
(130) Delro: "I can feel it... there is definitely something new here." Delro whispers to himself as he proceeds with docking.
** (118) Jethro is rather charismatic, when he's not bored out of his mind, which is known by the villagers, probably increasing his chance at Raspin accepting **
(110) GM Starfe: Raspin: "C'mon Jethro, you know we need you on the plow share today. We can get vaporators some other time"
(110) GM Starfe: You may attempt to affect Raspin's mind
(118) Jethro: "But if I don't try today, we might miss our chance to get them."
(118) Jethro: [1d20+7] -> [1,7] = (8) affect mind
(118) Jethro: ((Crap
(118) Jethro: ))
(118) Jethro: ((That's.... wow))
(119) Talon: ((Yee...))
(110) GM Starfe: [1d20+1] -> [16,1] = (17)
(130) Delro: When Delro is docked, he immediately takes in his surroundings, stretching his arms while maintaining a face free of any expression, his sea-blue skin glowing in the sunlight.
(118) Jethro: ((........yeah))
(118) Jethro: ((My rolls don't love me))
(110) GM Starfe: Raspin passes his will save
(110) GM Starfe: "If theres time after you finishing your part of the workthen you can go out, but you HAVE to do your work today
(118) Jethro: "...Allright."
** (118) Jethro gets to work, not very happy with it **
(110) GM Starfe: Delro, the planet you have arrived on is much like the one you've just left, which is somewhat dissapointing, but compared to Naboo Tetran is desolate.
(130) Delro: 'What promotes this planet to live? What is there to this world?' Delro asks as he ventures into town. He curiously consumes everything he finds, knowing that he'll know what he is looking for when he sees it.
(130) Delro: Specifically, Delro looks for anything technological on this sandrock.
(110) GM Starfe: As you approach your designated work area you see the other young men, a few of them your friends, but one in particular who you arent exactly fond of, Bil M'Don
** (119) Talon asks a crew member, "So... Do you have any idea how much longer we'll take to arrive?" **
(110) GM Starfe: Delro, the port town is far from bustling and has a few part shops, scrap shops, and cantinas, your basic port town. When you see the scrap shop it almost makes you want to try and get the weaponary on the Starswept fixed, but you know you dont have the money.
(110) GM Starfe: Talon, as you arrive in the cockpit of the small Republic transport the copilot stands and salutes you
(110) GM Starfe: "Emissary Velt, we have emerged from hyperspace and are preparing to descend into the Tetranian atmosphere."
** (118) Jethro nods at the boys **
** (130) Delro goes into the scrapshop, inquiring about available work. **
(118) Jethro: "Another day, another few hours of hitting the dirt with a big piece of metal.."
** (119) Talon smiles and nods. "Ah. Good. Thank you." **
** (118) Jethro grabs up his plow **
(110) GM Starfe: As you start plowing you notice Bil, who is slacking off like usual, hes smirking the grin of a man who cant wait to say something
(110) GM Starfe: ((Damn... That was fast, I managed to work a character obviously named after myself into the game already
(118) Jethro: ((Yyyyyyyep))
(130) Delro: ((OMG! It's BIL!))
(130) Delro: ((Correct spelling and everything!))
(119) Talon: ((Heh...))
** (118) Jethro tries not to let it get to him, but keeps an eye on him nontheless **
(110) GM Starfe: Bil: "Say Jethro... You hear the news?"
(118) Jethro: "No, but I bet you're gonna tell me."
(110) GM Starfe: "Yeeep"
(110) GM Starfe: Talon, you can see the planets surface approaching rapidly, the climate seems much like the planet Naboo, where your family vactioned in the past, but there seems to be far less activity
(118) Jethro: "Well, get it over with then."
(110) GM Starfe: Delro: You walk into the scrap shop, theres an older looking rodian behind the desk, fiddling with a broken carbine rifle
(110) GM Starfe: Bil: "My parents negotiated with a freighter pilot down at the port, Im leaving for Coruscant in a week."
(110) GM Starfe: Bil's is Raspin's son, Raspin is the major land owner in town and thusly the wealthiest man, he is generally considered the 'leader' although there is no local government to speak of, much less a planetary government
(118) Jethro: "......Ah." Jethro grits his teeth and tries to smile, almost managing it
(118) Jethro: "That's... great, Bil."
(110) GM Starfe: Bil has not lived a life of privalege, but has been waiting to go to Coruscant for years.
(118) Jethro: "Try not to get mugged. I here that happens in the big places."
** (118) Jethro is jealous, of course **
(110) GM Starfe: "I figured you'd like to know, I know how much you want to get out of here"
(118) Jethro: "I can wait... I'm not one of the old-hands yet."
(118) Jethro: "So, I hear we need some moisture vaporators or we're gonna have a crop shortage this year." Jethro makes an obvious attempt at changing the subject
(137) Delro (enter): 22:38
(110) GM Starfe: "Father says that we'll probably need to buy some but that a lot of extra work will do just fine."
(110) GM Starfe: Delro: You walk into the scrap shop, theres an older looking rodian behind the desk, fiddling with a broken carbine rifle
(110) GM Starfe: Booting '(130) Delro' from room...
(130) Delro (exit): 22:39
(118) Jethro: "Maybe, but you can't create water from work, and without water, the plants just don't grow."
** (137) Delro clears his Duroan throat. (in basic) "Do you have any work for a [Bad dice format]travelling mechanic[Bad dice format]?" **
(110) GM Starfe: "Im sure B5 will figure it out after I've left"
(110) GM Starfe: Rodian: "Travelling mechanic..."
(118) Jethro: "Iiif you say so."
(110) GM Starfe: The Rodian scratches his head
(118) Jethro: "...But B5 is getting nuttier by the day..."
(110) GM Starfe: Rodian: "Depends on how good you are"
(118) Jethro: "There aren't any mechanics outside the port, and we can't really afford one anyway.."
(137) Delro: "Let me see that thing you're working on."
(110) GM Starfe: Bil: "When I get to coruscant there'll be all kinds of droids... Its going to be amazing"
(110) GM Starfe: The rodian shrugs and hands you the carbine rifle
** (137) Delro looks the thing over. **
(118) Jethro: "MMmm... I wonder what other droids look like..."
** (118) Jethro sets into the plowing some more **
(110) GM Starfe: Talon (sorry for the wait): Inside the cockpit a voice comes over the intercom, "Requesting ship identification."
** (137) Delro tries figuring out what's wrong with the rifle. **
** (119) Talon recites the ship's basic information. ((Sorry. Just realized I had no clue what it was. Can't imagine why I thought I did...)) **
(110) GM Starfe: "Republic Transport has permission to land on platform 3, welcome to Tetran"
** (119) Talon smiles and awaits the landing. 'Well, let's get this over with...' **
** (137) Delro tries to fgure out what's wrong with the rifle. (roll?)) **
(110) GM Starfe: Delro, give me a repair check
(137) Delro: [1d20+5] -> [11,5] = (16)
** (118) Jethro plows away (Suppose I'm out of the game for a tell time passes then. Lemme know)) **
(110) GM Starfe: You seem to locate the problem, which is hard ot find but simple to fix once you have found it, an off center safety mechanism on the gun is preventing it from firing and coming out of safe mode, you easily shift it back into place
(110) GM Starfe: Talon, the ship lands.
(110) GM Starfe: Captain: "Emissary Velt, the ship will be waiting here."
(110) GM Starfe: Talon, the republic has not sent you escorts, as you are not high profile enough to be in any real danger
** (119) Talon nods. "Thank you, Captain. I'm not sure how long this will take, but I hope I don't keep you and your men waiting too long." **
(118) Jethro: ((Steven reports that his connection is inexplicabely unstable tonight. The tradition continues.))
** (119) Talon examines his briefing again to find out where he's supposed to meet with the representative. 'The less time I have to spend here, the better...' ((Blegh...)) **
(110) GM Starfe: Talon, as you step out of the ship you find that the weather is quite comfortable. According to your instructions you are to locate the Tetran Port Town Hall, where the Hutt representatives are stationed
(140) Delro (enter): 22:58
(110) GM Starfe: You seem to locate the problem, which is hard ot find but simple to fix once you have found it, an off center safety mechanism on the gun is preventing it from firing and coming out of safe mode, you easily shift it back into place
** (140) Delro smirks handing the machine back to the shop owner. "Done. Anything else?" **
** (119) Talon begins walking in the fairly comfortable climate. 'I guess there are worst planets to visit. Maybe the 'located in Wild Space territory' gave me the wrong impression.' He then realizes he has no clue where the Town Hall is. 'Okay... Just find a shop and ask someone, or something. **
Server Administrator-> Kicking '(137) Delro' from server... Removing dead client
(137) Delro (exit): 23:00
** (119) Talon now looks for a nearby shop. **
** (140) Delro feels exceedingly confident that he can get himself a nice, small job here. **
(110) GM Starfe: The Rodian tests out the (not loaded) carbine rifle
(110) GM Starfe: "Hmmm... Good work."
** (140) Delro nods. "I know. I plan to stay in the area for a while. I won't ask for much, so do I have a job..." Delro acts as though searching for the Rodian's name. **
(140) Delro: He then halts, bring his hands up.
(140) Delro: "I am Delro Nischi."
(110) GM Starfe: "Well... Come to think of it there is a town on the outskirts with a faulty droid, and I simply dont have time to get out there. Id be willing to pay you... 400 credits if you would take care of it for me"
(110) GM Starfe: Talon, you see a scrap shop nearby the platform exit, it has an open sign outside
(140) Delro: "All right, point me there and I will to service." Delro states, ready to leap out the door.
(110) GM Starfe: The open sign is written in both basic and Rodian
(110) GM Starfe: Rodian: "I am Neesh, nice to meet you Delro"
** (140) Delro nods absentmindedly, waiting for directions." **
(119) Talon: "Eck... A scrap shop.... But, I guess it'll do..."
(110) GM Starfe: Neesh comes out from around his desks, you immediatley notice that one of his legs is a rather bad artificial leg, as you can tell just by the sound and movement of it, its no wonder he doesnt want to go to the outskirts.
** (119) Talon enters the scrap shop. **
(110) GM Starfe: "Step outside and Ill show you
** (140) Delro rushes outside recklessly, not bothering to look behind him if there's anybody there. **
(110) GM Starfe: As Neesh steps towards the door a well dressed human steps in
(110) GM Starfe: Neesh: "..Welcome to Neesh's scraps"
(110) GM Starfe: Jethro, you finally finish your work, having listened to Bil's bragging the entire time
** (140) Delro spins around to face this human. Delro is a duro with smooth, seablue skin and large green eyes, wearing a red bodysuit. **
** (118) Jethro wipes the sweat off his brow **
(140) Delro: "..."
** (119) Talon , the fairly attractive blue-eyed, blonde young man smiles. "Ah. This is a very nice place. It's a shame I don't have any need for scraps at the moment. I'm terribly sorry, but could you please point me to the Town Hall? I have some business to attend to there." **
(140) Delro: 'over-dressed for a rock like this...'
** (118) Jethro looks at the sun to see if there's enough time to go out and bargain for th vaporators **
(110) GM Starfe: Jethro, the sun hasnt fallen yet, and the weather is good, you can probably make it to the port before dark
(110) GM Starfe: Neesh mutters in Rodian.
** (118) Jethro sees to Raspin for the bragaining stuff for the vaporators **
(110) GM Starfe: Neesh: "Well, if you head up this road and take a left at the Iridonian Cantina you should see it."
(119) Talon: "Ah. Thank you. I'm very much obliged to you."
(140) Delro: "...there is a cantina in this town?"
(110) GM Starfe: Neesh: "Of course, theres several"
(110) GM Starfe: Jethro, you arrive at Raspins house
(110) GM Starfe: Raspin: "What now?"
** (119) Talon performs whatever gesture is the equivalent of a bow (if he knows it) and leaves. **
(118) Jethro: "Well, there's still time in the day, so I could go bargain for the vaporators now."
(140) Delro: "I go fix that droid thing tomorrow. It's getting late and I think I wannna find a place to rest before it gets dark. But before I go, will ya tell me where this village is, Neesh?"
(118) Jethro: "I'd need the credits though of course."
(110) GM Starfe: Raspin sighs
(110) GM Starfe: Raspin: "Fine fine..." He goes to a locked box on a counter, unlocks it, and takes out some credit notes
** (119) Talon begins following Neesh's directions. 'With any luck, the Hutts' representative won't be too much worse than that. ... Insanely wishful thinking. But at least the setting will be a bit better than some little scrap shop.' **
(110) GM Starfe: Raspin: "And take these."
(110) GM Starfe: Raspin gives you a pack of various electronic devices, small arms, and blaster ammunition.
(118) Jethro: ((Christy's gonna come in and watch, if that's okay with everyone))
(140) Delro: (Yay!)
** (118) Jethro looks it over and nods **
(119) Talon: ((Sure))
(110) GM Starfe: Its cool
(118) Jethro: "I'll see what I can do then."
** (118) Jethro heads out **
(150) Maiya (enter): 23:22
** (140) Delro nudges Neesh for the directions. **
(110) GM Starfe: Neesh steps outside and points down the road, in the opposite direction he sent the human
(110) GM Starfe: "If you follow this road you'll get to the outside of the port, the town is short walk East from there."
** (140) Delro waves to Neesh as he heads off in that direction. **
(140) Delro: When Delro is certain Neesh has gone back inside, Delro heads off in the direction that the human went.
(140) Delro: "What business DOES some overdressed human have on a rock like this?"
(110) GM Starfe: Delro, you can no longer see the human, but you know where he has been directed
(110) GM Starfe: Talon, you pass the Iridonian cantina, and you can see what appears to be the town hall from there.
** (118) Jethro is on hiw way into port **
** (140) Delro proceeds to follow the imaginary footsteps thus. **
** (119) Talon continues, hoping against hope that the talks go well. He also notes the cantina's location. 'Even if this isn't as nice a place as one of Naboo's cities, I think I might just stop off there for a look later. I might need it' **
(110) GM Starfe: Jethro, you set out from town with the credits and pack of equipment, you follow the normal route to the port and arrive in a short amount of time, the grass soon becomes paved streets and the trees become buildings
** (118) Jethro doesn't come out this way very often, and takes his time looking around **
(118) Jethro: ((I brought my spear with me too))
** (140) Delro also takes a quick peek into the cantina to see how it is, looking only for a moment so that Talon's tracks don't grow cold. **
** (118) Jethro looks for a place that might have a few moisture vaporators as he takes in the sights **
(110) GM Starfe: The cantina is fairly quiet Delro, there are a few patrons at tables and the bar, and some music playing over an intercom system, but its not particularly busy
(118) Jethro: ((We're so backwater we have an intercom instead of holographic biths and Twi'leks))
** (140) Delro makes a mental note, and continues tracking the human. **
(110) GM Starfe: Jethro, you locate a parts an supply store within the landing docks, a younger Cerean man is sitting with his head on the desk, apparently asleep
(110) GM Starfe: ((So backwater you dont even have the Galactic TV feeds))
** (118) Jethro walks up to it **
(118) Jethro: ".Erm. Excuse me."
(110) GM Starfe: The Cerean jolts up
(110) GM Starfe: "Welcome to the Tetran parts and supply store my name is So Leet, how may I help you?!"
(118) Jethro: "As you may have noticed, there's been a dry spell lately. My village is looking to invest in some moisture vaporators.... do you have any in stock?"
(118) Jethro: ((Starfe, you have sunken to a new low.))
(119) Talon: ((That he has. So 1337? Come on!))
(150) Maiya: Disconnecting from server...
(150) Maiya (exit): 23:40
(140) Delro: ((But with a name like that, he's BOUND to have something useful in store.))
** (140) Delro continues on his human hunt, borne out of curiosity and boredom. Not to mention his gut feeling that there is something special about this planet... **
(119) Talon: ((That IS a good point...))
(110) GM Starfe: ((Its not that bad is it?))
(140) Delro: ((Nah. It's KINDA clever.))
(118) Jethro: ((I was giving you a hard time))
(110) GM Starfe: So Leet: "Moisture vaporators..."
(119) Talon: ((Yeah. It's just something of a... very distinct name, is all. How could we NOT comment on it?))
(110) GM Starfe: So Leet moves over to the shops computer database system
(110) GM Starfe: After a minute or 2 of searching he says, "Yes, yes we do."
(118) Jethro: "How many?"
(110) GM Starfe: "We appear to only have 3 on hand"
** (118) Jethro nods **
** (118) Jethro presents the credits and bargaining good **
(118) Jethro: s
(118) Jethro: "I would like to purchase them.."
(110) GM Starfe: "Alright let me look at what you have here..."
(110) GM Starfe: So Leet begins to sort through the items after counting the credits and calculates the total value
(110) GM Starfe: Talon, you arrive at the city hall, there are two Rodian guards standing outside the door, both are holding weapons
** (119) Talon approaches the two guards. "Hello. I'm the emissary that the Republic sent. Has the representative I'm supposed to meet arrived yet?" **
(110) GM Starfe: The guard looks at you questioningly
(110) GM Starfe: "Emissary from the Republic.. Lets see some identification"
** (119) Talon nods. "Of course." He then produces his ID card. **
(110) GM Starfe: The guard removes from his equipment belt a card scanner, and scans it to make sure it is an actual republic ID card.
(110) GM Starfe: "Alright Emissary Velt, you check out."
(110) GM Starfe: The Rodian guard opens the door and lets you in
** (119) Talon nods. "Thank you." He then heads inside. **
(110) GM Starfe: "The representatives are waiting for you in the conference room, an employee will direct you in the right direction"
** (119) Talon says to the guards, while still walking, "Ah. Good. I appreciate it." He then looks for an employee. **
(110) GM Starfe: When you enter the town hall, which is quite clearly not open to the public, you notice it is fairly luxuriously decorated
(110) GM Starfe: A silver protocol droid greets you as you enter
(110) GM Starfe: "Greetings Emissary Velt, we've been expecting you."
** (119) Talon nods. "Yes. Could you take me to the Hutts' representative, now? I don't wish to keep them waiting." **
(110) GM Starfe: "Certainly Emissary"
(110) GM Starfe: The protocol droid turns and waddles off down the hall
(110) GM Starfe: "RIght this way"
(110) GM Starfe: Delro, you come down the street towards the town hall
** (119) Talon follows the droid, dreading the meeting to follow. **
(110) GM Starfe: Jethro, So Leet has finished sorting through your things
** (140) Delro notices the guards, and tries to remain out of sight. **
(110) GM Starfe: So Leet: "Well, this will cover 2 of the vaporators, but you're about 1000 credits short on the last one"
** (140) Delro tries to take cover, spying on the entrance to city hall from nearby. **
(118) Jethro: "Hmmm..."
(118) Jethro: "But surely you could make an exception for a poor farming village that really needs these vaporaters..."
(118) Jethro: [1d20+7] -> [1,7] = (8)
(110) GM Starfe: Delro, the town hall is guarded by two Rodians, both armed
(119) Talon: ((Wow... Twice in one game...))
(118) Jethro: [1d20+7] -> [4,7] = (11)
(118) Jethro: [1d20+7] -> [12,7] = (19)
(118) Jethro: [1d20+7] -> [7,7] = (14)
(118) Jethro: [1d20+7] -> [5,7] = (12)
(118) Jethro: [1d20+7] -> [10,7] = (17)
(118) Jethro: ((Stinkin dice))
(110) GM Starfe: [1d20+0] -> [18,0] = (18)
(118) Jethro: ((I hate the dice))
(110) GM Starfe: So Leet: "Im sorry sir, my supervisors just would not allow me to neglect 1000 credits"
(118) Jethro: ((...That's very frustrating))
** (140) Delro stares at the guards for a while. He then blinks and decides it isn't worth causing a huge fight. He begins walking back to the cantina, muttering. **
(118) Jethro: ((How am I supposed to explore my powers in character if I can't roll anything but critical failures *Mumble*))
(110) GM Starfe: Delro, you get back to the cantina which is still less than a happening place
** (118) Jethro mutters to himself **
(118) Jethro: "Well I suppose we might live with two."
** (119) Talon continues to follow the droid. 'Why did they start me off with something like this anyway? I mean, I did pretty well in school, but trying to talk the Hutts out of something right off the bat? What is the Republic thinking?' **
(110) GM Starfe: So Leet: "So you will be purchasing two vaporators?"
** (118) Jethro nods **
(110) GM Starfe: So Leet: "Alright...." He takes the credits and the equipment required to purchase 2 vaporators.
(110) GM Starfe: So Leet: "Where would you like them delivered?"
(118) Jethro: "Raspins house in the (village name)
(118) Jethro: "
(110) GM Starfe: Talon, the droid stops at a double door and opens them for you, there is a Twi'lek and a human sitting at the end of a long table, they are drinking from delicate and expensive looking cups
(110) GM Starfe: So Leet: "Very well, they should arrive within a day or two."
(110) GM Starfe: So Leet packs the remaining equipment back together
** (140) Delro leans back on a seat in the Irodian Cantina, thinking about this dull rock and how something doesn't seem right about city hall... **
** (118) Jethro feels mixed about the semi-succesful endeavor, and decides to go into the Cantina **
** (118) Jethro hasn't really been there before, and want's to take a look **
** (119) Talon enters the room. "Good day to both of you. I am Emissary Velt. I hope I haven't kept you waiting long." **
(110) GM Starfe: The human representative says, "Oh not at all.. The Hutts are... Eager to deal with the republic, please take a seat"
** (119) Talon takes the offered seat. "Thank you." **
(110) GM Starfe: "My name is Dax and this is Firit"
** (140) Delro looks up when the kid enters the cantina, eyeing him with suspicious curiosity. **
** (119) Talon nods. "So, are you two in the mood for small-talk, or would you rather we get down to business?" **
(110) GM Starfe: Jethro, the cantina is a quiet, and there is an assortment of characters sitting around the place. Junkers, farmers, traders, and star pilots.
(110) GM Starfe: Firith whispers in Dax's ear.
(110) GM Starfe: Dax: "I feel as though we should get right to the negotiations"
** (118) Jethro takes a look around **
(118) Jethro: "Wow... this really isn't as interesting as I thought."
(110) GM Starfe: Dax: "As you know, the Hutt's wish to add Tetran to their Wild Space holdings along with Tatooine, which is far less habitable. We feel that this is a perfectly legal take over as the republic has no presence out here and we plan on keeping Tetran lest the Republic can provide a good reason why we should give it up"
(140) Delro: "...you said it. This is nothing but a rock house on a big rock in the middle of rocksville. Just like the rest of this place.
(140) Delro: "
(110) GM Starfe: Jethro, the cantina has some music playing over an intercom system, which is not surprising considering how backwater this part of your planet is
** (140) Delro slaps a hand down on the table. "I'm only glad that this place isn't another Hoth. Now THERE'S a big nothing planet." **
whispering to GM Starfe, Did the Republic mention something that Talon should offer or tell the Hutts to get them to cooperate?
(140) Delro: "If you want lights and entertainment, you're in the completely wrong section of the universe."
(110) GM Starfe (whispering): The Republic has given you the option of negotiating with 100,000 republic credits for them to leave.
** (140) Delro turns to Jethro. "You understand that much, right?" **
(110) GM Starfe: ((Id like to make a correction, I was reading the map incorrectly, Wild Space is further out than the Outer Rim, you are still in the outer rim area of the galaxy))
(119) Talon: "Hmm... Yes, I would likely agree with you that such a take over by the Hutts would be a legal move. I am curious, however: Why do the Hutts want this planet?"
** (140) Delro slaps his hand on the table again. "Are you listening?" pointing his remarks at Jethro. **
(118) Jethro: (Sorry)
(118) Jethro: "Ah, I was born here. I'd really like a chance to get away, but it doesn't look like I'll ever find a way."
(110) GM Starfe: Firith whispers to Dax again
** (140) Delro waves the boy over. **
(140) Delro: "I'll get you a drink you a drink or something. Siddown."
(140) Delro: "You mean to tell me that you LIVE on this sandrock?"
(110) GM Starfe: Dax: "As you know the Hutts have control in areas like Nar Shadda, and more recently Tatooine, which is further away from other Hutt controlled planets. With the control of Tatooine the Hutts wish to cement themselves in this area of the outerrim, Geonosis as you know is not an option due to its largely warrior tribes. Tetran however is habitable and docile, a perfect new planet to set up on"
** (118) Jethro sits down **
(118) Jethro: "That's about the size of it."
(118) Jethro: "A village not to far from here, all we do is farm."
(118) Jethro: "Day in day out. I'm planting, hitting the dirt with a piece of metal, or reaping.."
** (140) Delro orders two drinks from the bartender. **
(118) Jethro: "It's... well... it was okay... I'm not treated bad, it's just..."
** (118) Jethro puts his hand on his forhead **
(118) Jethro: "I'm sick of it."
(118) Jethro: "Wait...."
(118) Jethro: "You're from off-world then?"
** (140) Delro lifts an eyeknub. **
(140) Delro: "...you could call me a traveller. I had a home, but I go wherever looks interesting now."
(110) GM Starfe: The bartender brings two drinks "Ten credits buddy"
** (140) Delro slaps the money down while talking. **
(140) Delro: "Freedom. It's a real comodity, and it is EXPENSIVE. But if you have the credits, you can go wherever you want to. Anywhere."
(140) Delro: "None of this farming stuff. THat's for the grunts who already lived their lives."
(118) Jethro: "... Wow. I wish I could do that..."
(118) Jethro: "I've been saving most of my life, and i have some credits, maybe even enough to get out of here... but I don't know the first thing about living off-world."
(118) Jethro: "I'd be homeless and stranded in a standard-week."
** (119) Talon nods, understanding. "I see, I see. Well, I certainly can't find anything irrational with your actions. After all, such a cornerstone would certainly be helpful to the Hutts. However, it must be said that there are certain... less tangible things that can have an even greater value. Particularly if a substitute would also be found for the lost material possession." **
(140) Delro: "You know what your problem is? You've been brought up in a culture don't know anything about what's outside. Where I come from, it's expected we learn about it."
(118) Jethro: "...So... you know alot about all sorts of wierd things huh?"
(110) GM Starfe: Dax: "What sort of substitute would you suggest Emissary Velt?"
(118) Jethro: "...Hey.."
** (140) Delro laughs. "I've been around the block. I stay on the inner-outer rim, but I've been in and out before." **
(118) Jethro: "Maybe you'd know..."
(140) Delro: "*grunt*?"
(118) Jethro: ".... you mind if I show you something... in private?"
** (140) Delro looks to the left... and then to the right. **
(140) Delro: "Sure. Whatcha got?"
(118) Jethro: "Well... follow me."
** (118) Jethro leads Delro out of the cantina, and poart of the way towards his village, where the wilderness starts again, then out of the way of prying eyes **
** (118) Jethro stops in a fairly deserted area **
(118) Jethro: "Lemme ask you something first.."
(118) Jethro: "look around here.... and what do you see?"
(140) Delro: "Sure dragged me a ways out of the way, eh..."
(118) Jethro: "Trees, rocks, grass.... what else?"
** (140) Delro looks around. **
(140) Delro: "I see nothing but a bunch of untamed wilderness. What are yuo getting at?"
(118) Jethro: "WEll... I see something else... I see..."
(118) Jethro: "Waves."
(118) Jethro: "Lines."
(118) Jethro: "Lines conecting everything."
(118) Jethro: "Not big obvious ones, but ones that blend in with the background, infused in it..."
(118) Jethro: "Into you and me even."
(118) Jethro: "Ever since I was little."
(118) Jethro: "I thougth it was the same for everyone... I learned different eventually..."
(118) Jethro: "And recently... well..."
** (118) Jethro points his arm out **
** (118) Jethro strains for a little while **
(119) Talon: "Hmm... Well... It's just that... While I certainly see the Hutts' reasons for wanting this planet for security reasons, I personally think, and I mean no disrespect, that they're being too cautious. After all, a group as powerful as the Hutts could stay as they are without Tetran and be far more than a force to be reckoned with. So, why not sell this planet to the Republic? You would certainly recieve a fair compensation for it. And, furthermore, the Hutts will be more on the Republic's good side, something far more valuable than money. Frankly, I can't see a downside to the transaction for the Hutts."
(110) GM Starfe: Delro, you are somewhat confused as to what he is talking about. And then a small rock begins to float in the air
** (140) Delro gapes. **
** (118) Jethro stops straining, letting the rock drop **
(118) Jethro: "It's kind of exhausting..." He pants "...But... lately I can do things like that. By.. I don't know... moving the lines."
(118) Jethro: "I was thinking... maybe you knew."
(118) Jethro: "Of something else like that out there."
(118) Jethro: "Maybe you could tell me what that is."
** (140) Delro puts his hands on Jethro's shoulders, gripping him suddenly. **
(110) GM Starfe: Talon, diplomacy check
(140) Delro: "Kid. Do you have ANY idea what you are?"
** (118) Jethro stares at him for a minute, then shakes his head. **
(119) Talon: [1d20+9] -> [1,9] = (10)
(118) Jethro: "No... that's why I'm asking you."
(118) Jethro: ((gh))
(118) Jethro: ((The dice hate people today))
(119) Talon: ((... Damnit...))
(110) GM Starfe: Dax consults with Firith
(119) Talon: ((Not cool...))
(119) Talon: ((Not cool at all...))
(119) Talon: ((I type forever then get thwarted by a damn critical failure...))
(110) GM Starfe: Dax: "We understand your reasoning, but we do not believe the republic will offer the money to buy an entire planet. How much have you been told to offer... Emissary Velt?"
** (140) Delro takes a deep breath. **
(140) Delro: "What is your name?"
(118) Jethro: "...Jethro."
(140) Delro: "Jethro then. How would you feel if I told you... that there was a place out there... where there were people like you?"
(119) Talon: "I can almost guarantee to you that the amount will be appealing to the Hutts. However, I don't really think it would be fair for me to name a number. The Hutts have been on this planet for a while, so I think they would know its true value far better than the Republic could. So, would you be so kind as to tell me how much the planet is worth?"
(110) GM Starfe: Bluff check
(119) Talon: [1d20+5] -> [6,5] = (11)
(118) Jethro: "...."
(119) Talon: ((... Hardly better...))
(118) Jethro: "I'd feel like... what I was hoping for was true."
(118) Jethro: "...And maybe I wouldn't be destined to be stuck on this farming planet after all..."
(119) Talon: ((C'mon dice... Is it really so hard to get enough over 10...?))
** (140) Delro 's completely serious and expressionless face breaks into an uncharacteristic grin. **
(110) GM Starfe: [1d20+3] -> [2,3] = (5)
(110) GM Starfe: The opposing sense motive fails
(118) Jethro: ((Lucky culix!))
(119) Talon: ((Hurrah!))
(140) Delro: "Jethro, allow me to introduce myself. I am Delro Nischi."
(110) GM Starfe: Dax: "Hmmm... You make a valid point."
(110) GM Starfe: Dax and Firith consult one another again
(140) Delro: "You don't belong on this planet. There's a place for you out there. It's a long ways away from here, but it [Bad dice format]exists.[Bad dice format]"
(140) Delro: ((Oh! That's what I've been doing wrong.))
(140) Delro: "And if we had the money, I would get you there in a flash. Because there are few things in this universe as special as you, Jethro."
(118) Jethro: "Well...I... I have some money..."
** (140) Delro steps back from Jethro, sitting down on the soft grass. **
(110) GM Starfe: Dax: "The Hutts have a small presence on Tetran, and have not yet established any firm hold.. As representatives of the Hutts we would offer to abandon future plans to establish Tetran as a Hutt territory for 200,000 credits."
(140) Delro: "That'll help. We already have enough to get off of this dirtrock. But we'll need more. You've never set foot off of Tetran?"
(118) Jethro: "No. Not ever."
(140) Delro: "What is the longest distance you've travelled on foot or by vehicle?"
(118) Jethro: "The port."
(118) Jethro: "I've never ridden a vehicle."
(110) GM Starfe: ((Damn. Even Luke and Anakin had been in vehicles))
(118) Jethro: ((heheh))
(118) Jethro: ((There are some in the village, but I never got to ride em))
** (119) Talon quickly and, making damn sure not to let it show, weighs his options: virtually guarantee that the Hutts stay off of Tetran by offering them twice what he was told to, or inform the representatives that it really wouldn't work out. 'Ohhh.... Shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit...' **
(140) Delro: "If you could... and you tried going to where WE'RE headed on-foot... you'd be nothing but dust by the time you got there."
(140) Delro: "If you'd like to go there, that is. I didn't realize it until now, but I'm interrupting your whole "life" like this, babbling about the great big universe out there."
whispering to GM Starfe, Talon tries to Sense Motive to see if they might be embellishing the price they'd be willing to accept a little. Or can you just tell me straight out that they aren't?
(118) Jethro: "You think I'd wanna bust clods my whole life?"
(118) Jethro: "Although... I suppose I need to tell someone that I'm heading out..."
(118) Jethro: "Like... my dad..."
(118) Jethro: "And it's dark now... I should head back to the village."
(118) Jethro: "They'll be glad to know about the vaporators.."
(118) Jethro: "B5 just isn't realiable anymore..."
(118) Jethro: "Well, that's not true, withouthim we'd probably have no crops this year."
(140) Delro: "B5? Tell me, did you guys call Neesh at the scrapshop about that robot?"
(118) Jethro: "His bad jokes must be gettin to..."
(118) Jethro: "Hmm?"
(110) GM Starfe: ((I gotta get to bed guys, SAT at 8. So lets rap this up))
(110) GM Starfe (whispering): Give it a shot
(110) GM Starfe: [1d20+3] -> [9,3] = (12)
(118) Jethro: "Are you telling me Raspin actually got the money to order a repairmen for our droid AND to buy some vaporators?"
(119) Talon: [1d20+6] -> [8,6] = (14)
(118) Jethro: ((Okay, no problem))
(118) Jethro: ((been good so far though
(140) Delro: ((Concurredly!))
(118) Jethro: ))
(119) Talon: ((Right. We'll try to finish up soon))
(119) Talon: ((And yeah. It has been really good so far))
(110) GM Starfe: Talon, you feel as though they are trying to con you on the price of their depature
(140) Delro: "Anyway, meet me at where B5 is tomorrow morning after you've given all this some thought. Make sure you're ready for whhatever decision myou make, understand?"
(118) Jethro: "...Allright."
(118) Jethro: "Thank you."
(118) Jethro: "Thank you alot, Delro."
** (140) Delro snickers. "I knew I'd find something interesting around here..." **
(140) Delro: "Good night, Jethro."
** (118) Jethro looks at Delro quizicly **
(118) Jethro: "What was that?"
** (119) Talon smiles and points a knowing finger at them. "You're rather sly. I like that. It's always nice to see legitimite businessmen embellish on their prices a bit. Brings it back to more of a bartering feel. However, I can tell that, while the Republic will certainly give you a fair amount, that's asking a bit too much. So, please: offer me the fair price that the Hutts will accept for Tetran." **
** (140) Delro turns back to port. "Nothing important." **
(118) Jethro: "Al...right."
(118) Jethro: "Goodnight."
(119) Talon: ((*offer = tell to me))
** (118) Jethro heads back to town, and tells Raspin about the vaporators, returning the unused goods and credits, before heading to his home **
** (140) Delro finds a place t ostay for the night in port. **
(110) GM Starfe: Dax looks slightly worried
(110) GM Starfe: "We believe the Hutts will accept 150,000 credits"
(110) GM Starfe: Firith looks slightly upset with this decision
(110) GM Starfe: Firith whispers to Dax, Dax whispers back. Listen check
(119) Talon: [1d20+2] -> [6,2] = (8)
(119) Talon: ((Bleck... Oh, well))
(110) GM Starfe: You strain to hear the whispers, but you can only make out 1 word "Jedi"
(110) GM Starfe: They seem worried
(119) Talon: 'Hmm... I wonder what's going through their minds right now... Jedi... Hmm... Do they think that I'm one?'
(119) Talon: "Is there a problem?"
(110) GM Starfe: Dax: "No no. We both agree that 150,000 should be a fair price. Does this sound fair to you, Emissary Velt?"
(110) GM Starfe: Delro, take 30 credits from your money for lodging
(140) Delro: ((Done.))
(110) GM Starfe: Jethro, when you return back to Raspin he is very pleased with your eagerness to help the community, he awards you with 100 credits
(119) Talon: "Certainly. 150,000 will be a fine transaction. I'm glad we could work out a deal that benefits both the Republic and the Hutts. Even if you didn't quite get what you had hoped, I'm glad we could resolve this matter."
(110) GM Starfe: Dax: "Ill have the droid give you the paper work to take back to Coruscant with you, I will inform the Hutts personally of this transaction and we will let the bankers handle the rest"
** (119) Talon smiles, nods and stands. "Good. It's been a pleasure doing business with you both." **
(110) GM Starfe: We'll stop here.
(140) Delro: Phew!
(140) Delro: Good game, Starfe. We've needed that for a long time.
(110) GM Starfe: I think that went well
(119) Talon: Yeah. It has been way too long since a game like this. It went so great, too.
(118) Jethro: indeed
(140) Delro: Night Starfe. Good luck on the SAT tomorrow!
(110) GM Starfe: Well Im going to log this, Chapter 1 - The Outer Rim
(118) Jethro: very good game
(119) Talon: Right. Well, g'night everybody. And good luck on the new SAT tomorrow Starfe.
(118) Jethro: here's to continuing it in the near future
(110) GM Starfe: Alright, Im out of here
(110) GM Starfe: Disconnecting from server...
(110) GM Starfe (exit): 01:40
(140) Delro: Amen to that one. Man!
(140) Delro: Y'know, Starfe sure knows what the heck he's doing when he DM's.
